Concept: The rhythm of nature
The essence of the concept for this architecture and design project is based on three elements that characterize São Miguel in its orography: wood, water and stone.
The wood that characterizes the Laurissilva forest, with its exuberant flora, is represented in this concept through the use of wooden surfaces and slats in a rhythm of light and shade.
The water reflects the immensity of the Atlantic Ocean, the various volcanic lagoons and natural pools, represented in the fluidity of the spaces and the transparency of the materials.
The stone represents the topography of the island, the land and the volcanic landscapes, the hiking trails, the black sand beaches and the stone cities present in the diverse use of basalt and in the tones of the ceramics.
The orography of São Miguel inspired us in this architectural project to create a topographical "skyline" that is applied in this concept in various areas, as is evident in the reception, in the corridors of the rooms and in all the signage of the Hotel.
Architecture and design project
The 5-star DoubleTree by Hilton Azores hotel was designed and built from scratch and is spread over 4 floors with a total of 101 rooms. In this architectural and design project, natural light is highlighted by the large glass windows and the relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces is direct and fluid through the large glass planes and direct access to various terraces equipped with lounge furniture and views of the Atlantic Ocean and the natural biodiversity of the island of S. Miguel.
The Spacemakers project was recently nominated for the shortlist of the prestigious "The International Hotel & Property Awards".
When you arrive at the hotel, you are greeted by a dedicated team and concierge service, as well as various amenities, the most distinctive of which is a restaurant with a showcooking concept where you can taste the best that the island of São Miguel has to offer in terms of gastronomy.
On the first floor, there is a wellness center with an indoor pool and treatment rooms, a gym, a lifestyle studio, 3 meeting and event rooms with a maximum capacity of 150 people, a business center and indoor and outdoor lounge areas with views of the surrounding countryside.
On the 4th floor there is a rooftop with a bar and outdoor dining area protected by a bioclimatic pergola, a large terrace with a solarium and lounge area, and a swimming pool for adults and children. The view from the rooftop is one of the hallmarks of this Hilton hotel.
In this architectural project, the 101 rooms are spread over two floors, with furniture chosen to offer all the comfort that characterizes the Hilton brand. All the rooms have access to ocean views and the island's natural landscape, via large balconies with outdoor furniture.
